As a long time supporter of peace and democracy in Sudan, we ask you to please co-sponsor H.R. 6094 - The Sudan Democratic Transition, Accountability, and Financial Transparency Act of 2020. After 30 years of brutal military dictatorship in Sudan, peaceful pro-democracy protesters prevailed with the formation of a transitional government. This is a pivotal moment in Sudan's history with the possibility of genuine, comprehensive change. Though, without strong international support for the civilian leadership the transitional government could fail and the country could revert to a military dictatorship. H.R. 6094 would support a civilian-led democratic transition, promote accountability for human-rights abuses, and encourage fiscal transparency in Sudan. As your constituents, we respectfully ask that you co-sponsor HR 6094 and help the people of Sudan finally usher in a new era of peace and prosperity.
